Endocannabinoid System and Hemp Oil

Pet owners are becoming more attracted to “nature’s most perfectly balanced oil” as a newly favored alternative to costly prescription medications that often have various harmful side effects.

Hemp oil for dogs has become a popular homeopathic supplement to help manage various canine and feline problems such as anxiety, stress, chronic pain, skin disorders, mobility problems, and more.

Derived from the cannabis plant, hemp oil provides the same therapeutic benefits for your pet as it does for humans.

Hempseed oil comes from the seeds of the Cannabis Sativa plant and is a common ingredient with many health benefits for both pets and people. This is due to unique compounds called cannabinoids.

CBD oil, on the other hand, is derived from hemp plant fibre, stalks, leaves, and flowers. These parts of the plant contain higher concentrations of cannabinoids.

Hempseed oil is derived from the seeds of the hemp plant. It does contain CBD and other cannabinoids but in very low quantities. It is also high in numerous nutrients such as omega fats, essential fatty acids, and proteins.

Due to hemp’s association with marijuana, some pet owners may be nervous about giving Fido hempseed oil. Not to worry. Hempseed oil does not create an intoxicating effect in animals or humans. Properly produced hemp oil, such as the hempseed oil contained in Ultra Oil contains no tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the cannabinoid that creates an intoxicating effect.

Cannabinoids are naturally occurring compounds that have varying therapeutic properties. The cannabinoids in hemp plants are called phytocannabinoids, while the cannabinoids that are naturally produced by your dog’s body are called endocannabinoids.

Endocannabinoid System and Hemp Oil

The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a molecular response system that is found in all mammals. It functions by creating a state of whole-body homeostasis (balance) . Communicating balance within our pet’s body.

Within the dog’s ECS are two receptors: CB1 and CB2 (known as cannabinoid receptors). The receptors are located within the immune system and brain. They work when the body produces endocannabinoids which stimulate them to help balance the body’s functions.

When the ECS is not working properly our pet’s body is no longer in balance. Many conditions may be due to a lack of endocannabinoids. Some negative side effects can be vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, excessive panting, aggression, fear, lethargy, melancholy or sad behaviors.

Many conditions may be due to a lack of endocannabinoids. Some pet owners have seen benefits from trying out plant cannabinoids like CBD and hempseed.

Hempseed oil is the perfect balance of unsaturated Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids that cannot be found anywhere else.

  • We use UltraOil daily for our greyhounds. They have wonderful coats and it seems to help their mobility. We put it on their food and they eat it with no problems. We have one greyhound that has SLO and we use this oil for her supplement at a little higher dose and it works great. Love this product and the company.
