The Benefits of Anchovies and Sardines
Two of our favorite ingredients at Ultra Oil for Pets are: Anchovies and Sardines. As far as fish goes, anchovies and sardines often go overlooked. Most are unaware that both offer several nutritional benefits. These two species fall at the bottom of the food chain, meaning that they contain the highest omega, yet lowest mercury and heavy metal levels of the vast majority of fish in the sea.
Both anchovies and sardines contain large amounts of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), better known as Omega-3 Fatty Acids. According to the Mayo Clinic, EPA and DHA:
- positively affect the immune system
- aid in relieving itchy/dry skin
- reduce inflammation and joint pain
- promote proper brain function
All of these factors directly contribute to the overall health of our pets.

The fishery maintains very sustainable and humane fishing practices, using saline nets that are specially designed to exclusively catch smaller fish. This means that dolphins and larger water mammals are kept out of harm's way.
