Ways To Help Seasonal Allergies

Spring is in the air along with spring bloom comes pollen. Pets can suffer from seasonal allergies just as much as their owners, and it is important to recognize the symptoms of summer allergies to help your pet find relief.

Dogs

Dogs are subject to the same seasonal allergy triggers as many humans, and may be allergic to trees, grass, pollen, mold, insect stings, flea bites, feathers, and other allergens that have seasonal fluctuations. Your dog’s intolerance can develop over time, and may suddenly seem to be allergic when no allergy symptoms have been obvious in the past. Try to avoid walking your dog in the early morning or late afternoon, when pollen levels are typically highest.

Cats

Cats can have seasonal allergies especially if they go outdoors in the spring time. Like dogs, cats can have allergic reactions to pollen and other allergens that are more active in the spring. You can help reduce the chance of your cat having an allergic reaction during the spring by keeping them indoors, particularly on dry, windy days. Try to be mindful when you let your cat enjoy the outdoors after mowing the lawn, weed pulling, or gardening.

Signs Your Pet Is Experiencing Allergies

  • Red watery eyes
  • Excessive paw licking
  • Hives, rashes, skin irritations
  • Swollen Paws
  • Sneezing
  • Ear infections
  • Itchy skin ( excessive itching, hair loss, hot spots, biting, red skin irritations)

Ways To Help Seasonal Allergies

First determine whether the allergies are seasonal or there could be a food allergy going on so consult with your Vet who can diagnosis the issue.

Baths: Removing allergens from your dog’s skin with soothing baths can minimize allergic reactions. Avoid perfumed soaps or shampoos, however, which could aggravate tender skin.

A Healthy Diet:  Adding balanced omegas 3, 6, and 9 can help your pet tremendously with allergy season. Ultra Oil is a balanced omega supplement that helps your dog or cats skin and coat issues all year long, but especially during allergy season. Our oil lubricates your pets cells on the inside reducing dry skin and promotes a healthy, soft, glowing coat.

Wiping Paws: Wiping your dog’s paws and underbelly after every walk or outside playtime can remove irritating allergens from bare skin, minimizing allergic reaction

Cleaning: Vacuuming and dusting the house frequently can help with seasonal allergies.

  • Hi, Just wanted to let you know how our dog, Mya, has benefitted from Ultra OIl..Last spring as a young pup, she had allergies, hair loss and scratched constantly..The vet gave her shots and shampoo, etc., that alleviated her scratching to a degree..I ordered Ultra Oil and she has been getting it for over a year. Now, her coat is simply gorgeous and on her walks, everyone comments about her beautiful shiny coat.. Of course we tell them to get ultra oil..Even our vet, has commented about her beautiful coat, every time we take her there! Thanks for the great product!
